What’s involved in a cleaning job with Passmore Cleaning?

Cleaning is a job that is often labelled ‘unskilled’ however it couldn’t be further from the truth. Here at Passmore Cleaning the team understands that cleaning to a high standard is only 70% of the job role. 

30% is reporting to management, proactive communication, following health and safety procedures, training other staff members, great timekeeping and planning, using sustainable cleaning practices and maintaining professionalism when customer facing.

Passmore Cleaning employees are responsible, safe and professional cleaners that work hard as individuals to make up a strong team of qualified and skilled cleaning staff.

To give you an idea of cleaning job responsibilities and what is involved in the role, here is a list of weekly checks our team performs at their respective commercial cleaning sites.

  1. The equipment and hoover bags have been checked & any floor machines maintained.
  2. Fresh clothes & decent mop heads are ready for the next clean and dirties are stored safely.
  3. ⁠Equipment and chemicals stored neatly in a clean and organised cleaning cupboard – photo please.
  4. Any comments and feedback about the quality of cleaning on-site has been reported.
  5. ⁠Photos of deep cleaning efforts and/or ‘proud-of-this’ moments have been uploaded to the site group – we want to see your good work!
  6. Any client feedback has been reported.
  7. Any accidents, slips and near misses have been reported.
  8. Any health and safety concerns on site have been reported.
  9. Stock levels are good and anything needed has been requested.
  10. Any unusual incidents or challenges this week have been reported.
  11. Any site improvement suggestions from you have been reported/requested.
  12. Keys have been organised for any future cover.

Types Of Cleaning Job Roles in Cornwall with Passmore Cleaning

COver cleaning JObs IN Cornwall

A shift whereby a team member covers another – these are, by nature, temporary hours. However, there are many hours a week available. Cover includes external cleaning company requests, internal company sickness, holidays and absences. This can be for any type of work patterns and shifts and carried out by a confident and capable member of the team. Cover staff can have multiple shifts throughout the day.

Internal Cleaning Staff Cover – this includes new contracts, holidays, staff leave, shift swaps

  • Ad-hoc/Temporary – usually 1 or 2 weeks long – could be for one day or more
  • Usually advance booking
  • ~ 1- 3 hr shifts
  • Set days and hours – each ranging from early morning to late evening.
  • Subject to change – extending or reducing the time cover needed

Last Minute Cover – this includes covering for staff sickness, unauthorized absences and fixing client complaints.

  • Ad-hoc/Temporary 
  • Short Notice – Usually on the day booking
  • ~ 1- 3 hr shifts

Commercial Contract JOBS IN CORNWALL

A service completed regularly for a client who has contracted out Passmore Cleaning to maintain the cleanliness of their property/facilities. e.g. offices, dentists, weekly deep cleans, factories.

Contracted Sites – we manage the contract and for the cleaning staff you can expect:

  • Permanent, set hours
  • Advance booking
  • ~ 1-3 hr shifts
  • Set days and hours – each ranging from early morning to late evening.
  • Rarely subject to change but can occur if the contract is canceled or adjusted by the client

Events Cleaning JObs in cornwall

A service attending and maintaining cleanliness at local events either before, during or after the event. These shifts are fun and busy and include waste & recycling management, litter picking and public facility cleaning such as bathrooms and washrooms.

Yes! A selection of durable and branded uniforms is provided so staff members feel part of the team even when working in different locations across Cornwall.

Cleaning machinery and equipment is regulated and available on client sites along with full training method statements. HSE and COSHH compliant products are also selected and distributed for the team to be able to carry out cleaning duties to the best of their ability.

The BUPA Programme – Each staff member has free access to BUPA’s Healthy Minds service. A confidential chat service that offers both emotional support and practical living information 24hrs a day.

Regular Check-In Calls – Additionally to formal probation reviews and annual reviews we personally call our staff on a regular basis to make sure they are happy with their current job. It is good for communication and to gauge the physical and mental state of our employees.

Mental Health First Aiders – There are two qualified mental health first aiders on the management team who are available for private and confidential meetings and calls. It is crucial that we have support readily available for our staff facing any challenges with their mental wellbeing.

Our cleaning jobs in Cornwall are varied and we have commercial clientele in Falmouth, Penryn, Truro, Redruth, Camborne, St Austell, Bodmin, Newquay and Helston. The cleaning jobs are in buildings such as offices, public facilities, government buildings, banks, industrial workroom areas and student accommodation.

Most cleaning jobs are commercial cleaning with ad-hoc events throughout the year and cover cleaning where existing staff have holiday or need rest due to sickness.
